About the internship
- Part of the Faraday Undergraduate Summer Experience (FUSE)
- June to September 2025 for 8 weeks (dates are flexible, must be completed by 5 September 2025)
- Hourly wage of £13.85 (London Living Wage)

What you will be doing
This is an exciting time to join Breathe. Having proven the value of our products in both the automotive and consumer electronics spaces, we are looking for an intern to join our us this summer. Your internship will be within our testing team at Breathe, where we are building a world-class battery testing facility in London to output high quality battery test data. You will work in the laboratory to help us deliver the test data that underpins our product development and validation, whilst undertaking a project to help us develop our testing capabilities. We will provide you with experience and training to develop your skills and knowledge in Lithium-Ion battery testing.
Your day to day
- Your focus will be developing improvements to our bespoke cell test rigs, designing and prototyping improvements to our test fixtures in collaboration with our test engineering team.
- You will assist in defining requirements for future test equipment and rigs, considering factors such as electrical contact resistance, thermal performance, and mechanical reliability.
- You will assist in setting up, conducting and monitoring battery cell tests in our laboratory to support internal research and development projects
- You will assist in analysing test data and communicating outcomes within the company.
- You will assist the test engineering team in setting up test equipment
- For candidates interested in software development, there is an opportunity to contribute to a small Python-based project to improve data processing and test automation.
- Any additional work that may be deemed from time to time to be critical to product or company success.
Your background
- You will be a current undergraduate student at a UK university, studying a mechanical or equivalent technical discipline (not in your final year or during a subsequent Masters’ programme).
- Experience with mechanical design including Computer-Aided Design (CAD).
- Experience working in a laboratory or other testing environment is a plus, but not essential.
- Experience working with Lithium-Ion batteries is a plus, but not essential.
- A team player with a proactive attitude, good attention to detail, strong communications skills and the ability to work autonomously.
- Ability to work in a Kind and Conscientious manner.
